BREAKFAST, SNACK & LUNCH
Please help your child get off to a great start, by making sure that he/she has a nutritious breakfast every morning. We will eat snack in the classroom each morning between 9:00 and 10:30. Please send a healthy NUT-FREE morning snack and drink for your child everyday. Students can bring lunch or buy lunch in the cafeteria. If your child would like to buy lunch, you can set up an online account through Linq here.
Information regarding lunch time is coming soon!
RECESS
Students should be prepared for the weather. If it is raining, we will have indoor recess. During the snowy months, students need to be prepared for outdoor recess with snow pants, jackets, boots, hats, and gloves.

MORNING DROP-OFF & DISMISSAL
It is extremely important for your child to arrive on time. Our Morning Routine starts promptly at 8:00. During this time, we greet each other and prepare for the day. Students are allowed into the classroom at 7:55 am to give them time to transition into the classroom for the day.
The children are dismissed at 2:30 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday. Dismissal time on Friday is 1:40 pm. Once routines are established, third graders will enjoy their independence during arrival and dismissal. Please set up a meeting spot with your third grader. Students will be dismissed from the classroom. Your child's safety is most important, so please let me know of any changes to your routines and/or meeting spots.
PIERCE'S PROTOCOL FOR ABSENCES AND EARLY PICK UP
Please call the office when your child is absent: 617-730-2580.
If your child needs to leave early, please:
1. Send a note or email to me.
2. Pick up your child at the office. The office can call the classroom when you arrive.
3. Sign your child out at the office
BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
Due to the number of allergies and health concerns around food in schools, I am asking you not to send in edible treats (i.e. cupcakes and other sweets) for your child’s birthday. Instead, we will have a special activity time in honor of the birthday boy or girl. This activity could be some extra recess, a special art project, or a favorite game.
Birthday party invitations cannot be given out during the school day. To avoid hurt feelings, please send invitations through the mail unless all students are invited.
HOMEWORK
Students will have homework Monday through Thursday. At the end of each day, students will write their homework down. Over the next few months, please check your child’s homework binder each night and initial the day acknowledging that the work for that day has been completed. It is very important for your child to have a regular specific space set aside for homework completion where there are few distractions. Your assistance with this is greatly appreciated!
HOMEWORK BINDER
Every day, your child will bring home a “Home-School Binder.” On Friday, this binder will contain notices and their work from the week. In addition, every Friday, your child will write a reflection about the week. Reflections should remain in the binder and be brought back to school on Monday. All other work and notices in the Home-School binder are yours to keep. Please send the Home-School Binder back to school empty on Monday.
